Harry Fane Vintage Cartier Tank “Automatique” Large Watch, 1975

Harry Fane is well know for his vintage watch and jewellery collections. Since 1978 he has been collecting pieces from Cartier Golden Years of the 1920s & 1930s. He is recognised as a world authority in this field with a special emphasis on the objets d'art

This model is known as the Tank Jumbo. It was the first Tank that incorporated an automatic movement. This explains the bubble on the reverse of the case which housed the large automatic movement without compromising elegance. It was only available from 1974 and was made in limited quantities during the 1970’s.

Enamelled dial signed Cartier Paris with radial black Roman numerals and blued “Épée” hands with inner minute track Chemin de Fer. A beaded winder with sapphire cabochon.
