Castro Smith River Of Birds Ring
After training as a painter and print maker, Castro Smith started a traditional apprenticeship with the Goldsmiths Company to study engraving. Using the ancient technique of ‘seal engraving’ Castro modernises his designs European and Japanese influences. Inspired by history, myths and biology, he is obsessed with creatures and their creations.
The River of Birds ring takes inspiration from nature, featuring a watery motif and elegant birds in flight along the shank. Hand-engraved in his London studio, Castro has created this ring from sterling silver and inlaid it with 18kt gold and blue rhodium for a multi-faceted effect.
