Harry Fane Vintage Cartier Subsidiary Dial 1942 Gold

Regular price £32,250

Harry Fane is well know for his vintage watch and jewellery collections. Since 1978 he has been collecting pieces from Cartier Golden Years of the 1920s & 1930s. He is recognised as a world authority in this field with a special emphasis on the objets d'art.

This watch is referenced in the Cartier, The Tank Watch by Franco Cologni on page 210. The unusual dial is described as white dial with grey central section, Arabic numeral at twelve o’clock with prolonged indexes, small second hand at six o’clock and dated 1947. This version above differs from that described as the hands are blued “Épée” hands and the winder is narrow and enclosed in the edge of the watch case. This is a rare model. This example is dated to 1942.

Silvered dial signed Cartier with gold “dagger” numerals and blue “Épée” hands with a subsidiary seconds dial. With outer minute track Chemin de Fer. Original Dial.
