Harry Fane Vintage Cartier Dual Time, 1974 1974

Regular price £78,000

Harry Fane is well know for his vintage watch and jewellery collections. Since 1978 he has been collecting pieces from Cartier Golden Years of the 1920s & 1930s. He is recognised as a world authority in this field with a special emphasis on the objets d'art.

The emergence of watches displaying two separate time zones originated in the 1960’s as an essential for the emerging jet-set. Cartier, of course, embraced the idea and produced this very sophisticated wristwatch displaying two separate dials, each with an individual movement. Cartier, naturally, was not satisfied with this double horological wonder. They had also to hide the winders so the watch itself had a very clean silhouette. The winders are discretely placed at twelve and the six. Each dial with different chapters but with the same hands and the two dials are separated by the Cartier signature. This is a watch which was both utilitarian yet immensely elegant which was Louis Cartier’s aim for his wristwatches from the very beginning.
This watch is dated to circa 1974
